Taking A Stab At Exercising Again

My weight loss is slowing down and I know it is because of all of my illnesses.  I have been trying to exercise daily and am finding that to be sucking up what little energy I have.

I have tried researching different exercises and things to do – hopefully someone reading this can provide me some answers on how they exercise with their CFIDS/FM.

I have tarsal tunnel – walking on the treadmill is aggravating that.  Also with having Interstitial Cystitis, aerobics is out of the question because my the jumping around causes me to pee myself!

I know there has to be something I can do in the way of exercise that will not cause my other problems to flare.  I just need to maybe get a professional trainer to work with me long enough to give me some kind of workout regime.

With the treadmill walking, I started at 15 minutes a day and I have worked my way up to about 25 minutes per day.

Do you have access to a pool? Water walking or even water aerobics might be a great option. Many YMCAs have therapeutically heated pools and offer classes as well as open swim time. My mother has fibromyalgia and she went to a gym that had a pool for a long time to exercise.

This summer, I was going to the pool at my SIL’s house walking around in it and stuff. I will have to check out the Y to see what classes they have. Thanks!

I am in physical therapy right now, in a special program that focuses on increasing nerve glide and stretching. We are about to start core strengthening, which will be more challenging. Look for a physical therapist that is familiar with manual physical therapy if you are interested in trying.

i find biking to be the easiest. you can sit down or stand and alternate where you put your hands on the bars. it’s best to ride on a flat, paved bike path with no cars if you’re mostly in a constant severe flair like me.
