Morgellons to Be Studied By CDC

After receiving dozens of calls by Morgellons’ patients, the CDC is initiating a new study to determine if Morgellons is a psychiatric illness or a true physical medical condition.  Morgellons’ sufferers are saying that their illness is a physical in origin, but some doctors believe the condition is a form of delusional parasitosis, a psychosis in which people believe they are infected with parasites.

Morgellons symptoms include:

  • Sores that erupt all over the skin and body
  • Fatigue
  • A sensation that bugs are crawling all over you
  • Mysterious red, blue or black fibers that sprout from their skin
  • The CDC is granting Kaiser Permanente over $300,000 to test and interview Morgellons’ patients in their one-year study.  Study participants will get blood tests, skin exams and psychological evaluations.

Doesn’t $300,000 seem like a rather small amount to investigate this disease/ailment? I watched the news last night that talked about this ailment. It really is sad that these people are treated as though they have a psychological disorder when so many people have been found to have it. Well, more than they thought at least.

Not to mention, so many diseases we know of today were diagnosed the same way (as psychiatric) before they finally took them seriously. Fibromyalgia being one of them. Really sad! I would like to know what causes restless leg syndrome; this freaking stuff is annoying and at times painful and also feels like crawly things. 🙂

Great article and love the look! Got your link from wahm.

Hi Laura! Thanks for stopping by! I agree that $300,000 seems like a very small amount to study an illness. I have restless legs syndrome, so I’m with you there! I would love to know how to get rid of that without it costing me a bundle for the new med. that’s out for it.

The body can do weird things (don’t I know it!) and I will be anxiously waiting to hear what is made of this “study”.

Been suffering with this disease for years and have recently had a baby and feel as though she has it too loads of rashes all the time and little black pepper like things I find on her often. Hubby doesn’t have symptoms nor does step son been looking for help with zero results trying loads of things sometimes it calms down but other times flares up especially having been exposed to something in garage maybe carrying these super bugs. This is real others see the fibers I think it’s just more susceptible to blood types or skin types.
