Feeling Strange On New PMDD Meds

My family doctor started me on a form of Prozac to take for the 14 days before my period starts each month to treat my PMDD.  The first few days I was on the prescription, I felt weird – just kind of “off”.  I didn’t think a lot about it though because I know that any new meds can take a few days to get used to.  Then I ended up getting my period a week early so I stopped taking the meds, as instructed.  Now since I have had my cycle, and I am not taking the meds, I have had no appetite – at all.  Every time I try to eat something, I get nauseated and my husband says that I am just not “acting right”.  I’m going to give it another month yet and if next month is the same, then I will have to change I guess.

I was going severe mood swinging and going suicidal (I actually did take a drug overdose cause of it, it was bad enough for me to act on my thoughts), severe cramping and pain etc etc.. when I ovulated and leading up to my period until a couple of days into my period as my body is just so sensitive with the CFS to hormonal flutuations.

My doctor put me onto one of the SSRI antidepressants too (I got put onto Lovan) but being sensitive to things, (which the CFS often makes us), I found I couldnt take it. When I went back to the doctors telling her this, she told me some studies done which showed that taking 1000 mg of Calcium daily can help, so hence I decided to try that. Amazingly it works!! (well for me it did anyway)..after 8-10 weeks on the calcium with my next period on the way, I got no symptoms at all, no mood swings, no pain, no suicidal thinking 🙂 . Since then Ive had a couple more cycles and they too were problem free when I was on that calicum. Then I run out of calcium thou so stopped taking it, only to then find I had problems again and the suicidal mood swings due to the hormones etc came back, this stopped again once I was taking Calcium regularly again.

I really suggest you give that a go. No side affects and maybe you also are one who it would work for. (my problems were serious so I was amazed that just calicuim fixed things)
