The death of Heath Ledger was a shock to America the other week and rumors and theories have been flying around about the prescription drugs Heath took, some of which are the same drugs that we take for CFS & FM. Prescription sleep aids and anxiety medications are commonly prescribed for us and it’s scary when you hear of someone dying from pills that you have taken yourself.
I just had an article published on Heath Ledger’s death and the use of Ambien. Here is an excerpt:
The world was saddened to hear the news of the death of 28-year-old Heath Ledger. Heath Ledger was well-known for his role as a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain. News reports have revealed that Heath took the prescription sleep aid Ambien to help him sleep along with anti-anxiety medications. Heath Ledger was found dead on Tuesday, January 22, by his housekeeper and masseuse. He was lying naked, face down at the foot of his bed according to police.
The medical examiner’s office says that they still have more tests to run to determine an actual cause of death for Heath, but until that news is published, we can only speculate as to the cause. If it is found that Ambien is the cause of death, or contributed to the cause of death, the prescription drug industry will need to prepare for a hard hit.
