Some of the latest research is stating that obese adults who have a sedentary lifestyle may be more likely to have multiple, and more severe, urinary problems in both men and women.
In a study that included more than 5,500 men and women (ages: 30 – 79), the researchers found that three-quarters of women and two-thirds of men reported at least one urinary tract symptom: frequent trips to the bathroom overnight, difficulty emptying the bladder and urinary incontinence.
The study also showed that obese adults were more likely to have multiple and more severe symptoms that those who were of a healthier weight. Smoking, lack of exercise and heavy drinking were also linked to more serious urinary problems.
The results are based on 5,506 Boston residents who were surveyed about 14 different urological symptoms, as well as their overall health.
