Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, from his book “From Fatigued to Fantastic”, believes that Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome is “a subset of chronic fatigue syndrome”.

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome is where the body has given up and is reactive to almost everything in the environment.  Many CFIDS and Fibromyalgia patients will have multiple allergies and sensitivities to chemicals in the environment and to medications.  Even though this is very common, Dr. Teitelbaum says that what we are experiencing is NOT Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome.

True MCSS affects patients to where they cannot live in a normal house because they can become deathly ill if new carpet is put in, if the walls have been painted/wallpapered, or if pesticide is sprayed.  MCSS patients can become very ill just from washing the dishes or reading a book.  MCSS patients can react extremely negatively to any, or even all, of the thousands of chemicals that we come in contact with daily.
