Finally – Kitchen Remodeling Job Finished Today!

I have been waiting 15 years to have my kitchen remodeled and we were finally able to make that dream come true.  Our house was built in 1965 and we were still using the same stove and had all of the original cabinets.  The colors were very dark, the stove was a brownish color, and it was the only room in the house that looked dreary.  It was the last big remodeling job we had to do and after today it will be all done!

My husband and I and his best friend started working on it almost 5 weeks ago.  My husband is retiring at the end of this month and he has been partially laid off since the winter but with his heart and having to work some days it takes him longer.  I understand what it is like to not be able to work a lot at one time so he was glad that I didn’t put the pressure on him to get it finished sooner.  I would only let him work so many hours a day, and I can only work so much a day, so it takes us longer but we do eventually get there.

Yesterday was probably the longest day we have had because we needed to get a lot of little things done so that my mom can come today and help me clean the entire kitchen and dining room (lots of dust over the past few weeks!) and help me put all of the dishes and stuff away in the new cupboards.  I am picky about my house so I have cleaned up every day but the walls, the cupboards, the paneling, etc. all need to be washed down to get rid of the dust and dirt from all of the work.

I have had a pretty bad week and I have only had one night of really good sleep so I hope that I don’t end up in another flare.  I can rest good next week knowing that we are finally at the end of this huge project.
