Pfizer won in the race to the FDA for the first FDA approved drug to be marketed specifically to treat Fibromyalgia – Lyrica. Lyrica is supposed to help reduce pain and improve daily function for SOME Fibromyalgia patients.
Lyrica, known generically as pregabalin, previously won FDA approval to treat partial seizures, pain following the rash of shingles and pain associated with diabetes nerve damage.
Side effects may include moderate dizziness and sleepiness.
