Actress Pamela Sue Martin, who played in Dynasty, Nancy Drew and The Poseidon Adventure, quit Dynasty in 1984 due to her struggle with Interstitial Cystitis.
Pamela Sue rarely speaks about her battle with IC but she did talk about it in her interview with the UK’s Daily Mail regarding hair loss.
Pamela Sue left Dynasty back in 1984 when little was known about how to treat IC. Pamela said that she eventually found relief through a naturopath and using herbs. Pamela was given a herbal supplement called kava kava, to calm her bladder and body. (Kava kava is banned in the UK following fears that it might damage the liver.)
“I took it twice a day, left Hollywood and tried to live a more balanced life in the countryside,” she says.
Now writing her autobiography, Pamela Sue is energetic and healthy, partly, she thinks, because she has given up Hollywood life.

I have interstitial cystitis. I sure do hate it. I take two things: Elmiron (RX) and a supplement called Cystoprotek. The supplement helps a lot. It’s made a big change in the quality of my life. I live pretty normally now whereas about seven years ago when I was diagnosed, my life was basically destroyed and I was in pain at all times.
Hi Gothchiq! I was diagnosed I guess 3 – 4 years ago with IC. At first I was in total misery for almost 2 years before mine settled down. I took am on Elmiron.
